Oxford English UK Vietnam uses the ELAT (English Level Assessment Test) for placement testing. We do not allow students to join classes for which they do not have sufficient English skills, so you must take the ELAT to see which courses you qualify for. This allows us to ensure the highest quality training. The ELAT is waived for students who already have a current, valid IELTS or TOEFL iBT score.

ELAT testing is available at our center at #6, Lane 28, Nguyen Hong Street. The test is available seven days per week. Monday through Friday testing begins at 10.00 a.m. and at 2.00 p.m. On Saturdays testing begins 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. On Sundays testing is available at 10.00 a.m.

The ELAT is a simple examination developed by our teachers for the purpose of determining which course is best for you. The ELAT includes a one-on-one interview with one of our teachers to test your conversational ability, speaking skills, and critical thinking skills. The cost for placement testing is 50,000 VND. This fee is REFUNDED when you register for a course. Taking the ELAT is faster, easier, and more fun than taking any of the International Standard English exams and will give you a very good idea of your current English ability.
