In this course, students learn to write personal, narrative essays effectively at the college level. Students improve their use of grammar, vocabulary, and learn to write powerful and effective essays. Students may choose to use essays developed for this course as the basis for the essays they will submit with their college applications.

In addition, the course touches briefly on other types of writing required of college applications including other essay topics, extra-curricular activity descriptions, preparation of the activity list, and "why this college?" type essays. Students also have the opportunity to discuss campus life, American college study methods, and get some guidance in choosing best-fit schools.

The course does not include assistance with preparation of the actual application. Students who take this course in order to apply to college are still responsible for preparing their College Application Essay on their own.

If you and a group of your friends want to work with one of our teachers and learn the techniques to prepare superior college applications for yourselves without studying in a larger class, than you can form your own group and register to study with us. When you have gotten your friends together and you know how many of you will study, you can meet with our College Application Essay Group Coordinator and arrange the days and times of your study to meet the needs of your group.
